Zyrtec Tablets

Zyrtec® (cetirizine hydrochloride) is a non-prescription medicine used for treating common allergy symptoms, such as itchy or watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy nose or throat. It can also be used to relieve itching due to hives.

The medication, which is typically taken by mouth once a day, comes in several different forms, including Zyrtec tablets, chewable tablets, and syrup.

Histamine is responsible for allergy symptoms and the formation of hives. Zyrtec works for these conditions by blocking histamine from binding to histamine receptors. Some people need to take this antihistamine all year long, while others take it only during allergy season.

Even though most people tolerate this medication well, side effects are possible. Some of the most commonly reported Zyrtec side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, and fatigue. In most cases, side effects are minor and either do not require medical attention or can be treated easily.
