Zyrtec Drug Interactions

Narcotics, antidepressants, and sleep medications are just a few of the drugs that can interact with Zyrtec. Drug interactions such as these can increase your risk of side effects and potentially serious problems. For example, combining Zyrtec with other medications that cause drowsiness could lead to confusion and memory loss.

An Overview of Zyrtec Interactions

Zyrtec® (cetirizine hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a few other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to Zyrtec drug interactions include:

Medications That Cause Drowsiness
Even though Zyrtec is known as a "nonsedating" antihistamine, it can cause drowsiness in some people. Combining it with other medications that cause drowsiness could increase the risk of serious problems, such as confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious reactions could also occur.
 
Check with your healthcare provider before taking Zyrtec with any other medication (or substance, such as alcohol) that causes drowsiness.
