It is also approved for the treatment of itching due to hives that may or may not be related to allergies. Zyrtec is an antihistamine that could potentially cause drowsiness, dry mouth, or fatigue. The medicine is available over the counter and can be found in the form of tablets, chewable tablets, or syrup.
