Zetonna and Breastfeeding
Although it is unknown if Zetonna passes through human breast milk, it is known to pass through breast milk in rats in low amounts. Because each woman's situation is different, talk to your healthcare provider about the potential risks and benefits of using Zetonna while breastfeeding. If you decide to use this product while nursing, watch for any side effects in your child.
Can Breastfeeding Women Use Zetonna?
It is currently unknown if Zetonna™ (ciclesonide) passes through breast milk in humans. If you are breastfeeding or plan to start, you should talk with your healthcare provider before using this drug.More Information on Zetonna and Breastfeeding
Zetonna is a steroid nasal spray. Although studies have shown that other steroids pass through breast milk, it is unknown if ciclesonide (the active ingredient in Zetonna) would also pass through breast milk. Studies in lactating rats showed that Zetonna passes through rat breast milk in low amounts.It is unknown whether Zetonna would cause problems in a nursing infant if the mother uses it. If your healthcare provider recommends using Zetonna while breastfeeding, make sure to watch for any changes or side effects in your infant.

You should discuss breastfeeding and Zetonna use with your healthcare provider. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, the two of you can make a shared decision that is right for you.
