Xyzal Medication Side Effects

Xyzal® (levocetirizine dihydrochloride) is a medication often prescribed for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergies. It is also licensed to treat chronic hives due to unknown causes.

In clinical studies where side effects were documented with Xyzal, medication side effects included drowsiness, sore throat, fever, and the common cold. Most side effects of the allergy medicine are mild, however, and either do not require medical attention or can be treated easily.

Xyzal is usually safe to use and rarely causes serious side effects. However, some Xyzal side effects (while occurring infrequently) are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. Notify your healthcare provider if you experience severe drowsiness that interferes with your daily activities or develop any signs of an allergic reaction (such as hives or unexplained swelling).
