Xyzal Allergies Medicine

Xyzal® (
levocetirizine dihydrochloride) is used for treating seasonal allergies and allergies that occur all year long. By blocking histamine from binding to histamine receptors and causing allergy symptoms, it can help relieve sneezing, runny nose, and itchy nose and eyes.

As an allergy medicine, Xyzal is also approved for the treatment of chronic hives due to unknown causes. Since histamine is also responsible for the formation of hives, the drug can alleviate itching due to hives by blocking histamine.

The medication comes in tablet and liquid form, and is typically taken once a day in the evening. While most people tolerate Xyzal well, side effects are possible. Some of the most common side effects that have been reported with this drug include fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, and the common cold.
