Xyzal 5 mg Tablets

Xyzal® (levocetirizine dihydrochloride) is a prescription medicine commonly used for treating seasonal and year-round allergies. It is also approved to treat chronic hives due to unknown causes.
The medication comes in two forms and strengths:
  • Xyzal 5 mg tablets
  • Xyzal oral solution (liquid), which contains 0.5 mg of Xyzal per mL (equivalent to 2.5 mg per teaspoonful).
The recommended Xyzal dosage for adults and children ages 12 and older is 5 mg once daily in the evening. Some people may find that a lower dose is also effective, such as 2.5 mg once daily (Xyzal 5 mg tablets can be broken in half to achieve this lower dose).
For younger children 6 to 11 years old, the recommended Xyzal dose is 2.5 mg (half a tablet or one teaspoonful of the oral solution) once daily in the evening.
