Veramyst Drug Interactions

If you take protease inhibitors or certain antibiotics or antifungals with Veramyst, drug interactions may potentially occur. Both types of medicines can increase the level of Veramyst in the blood, which could increase your risk of dangerous side effects. Telling your healthcare provider about other drugs you are taking ahead of time can help prevent Veramyst interactions.

Veramyst Drug Interactions: An Overview

Veramyst™ (fluticasone furoate nasal spray) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to Veramyst drug interactions include:
 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
o Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
o Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
o Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
o Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
o Telithromycin (Ketek®)
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:

Certain Antibiotics and Antifungals
Some antibiotics and antifungals can increase the level of Veramyst in your blood, perhaps increasing your risk of Veramyst side effects. In particular, too much Veramyst in your blood can suppress your body's ability to produce natural steroids, which can cause serious consequences. This interaction is most likely to be a problem for people taking both antibiotics and antifungals on a long-term basis. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your Veramyst dosage.
