Singulair® (montelukast sodium), a prescription medicine, is used for the treatment of nasal allergy symptoms and asthma, including exercise-induced asthma. It works by blocking certain chemicals in the body to prevent them from causing allergy or asthma symptoms. Singulair comes in tablet form (for adults), as well as chewable tablets and oral granules (for young children). Before using the drug, talk to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, have liver disease, or have phenylketonuria.
