Singulair Drug Interactions

If certain medications are combined with Singulair, drug interactions can occur. These interactions can decrease the level of Singulair in your system, which may make the drug less effective. If you are taking certain anticonvulsants or rifamycin antibiotics while taking Singulair, drug interactions are possible. Your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages to prevent these from occurring.

Singulair® (montelukast sodium) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to Singulair drug interactions include:
 
 
  • Rifamycin antibiotics, including rifabutin (Mycobutin®), rifampin (Rifadin®), and rifapentine (Priftin®)

Certain Anticonvulsants
Some anticonvulsants can decrease the level of Singulair in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Although the manufacturer of Singulair does not recommended adjusting the Singular dosage due to this drug interaction, let your healthcare provider know if your allergy or asthma symptoms seem to become worse while taking anticonvulsant medications.
