Most people who take phenylephrine HCl will not experience any problems. However, side effects are possible and may include things such as headaches, dizziness, and insomnia. In most cases, side effects are minor and are easily treated. In some cases, however, people may experience potentially serious side effects that require immediate medical care. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you develop serious side effects of phenylephrine HCl, such as chest pain, a slow heart rate, or decreased urine production.
