Oxymetazoline nasal spray is approved for use in children as young as six years old. It is not approved for younger children. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using oxymetazoline nasal spray for your child.
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medication for something other than nasal congestion (this would be known as an "off-label" use). Off-label oxymetazoline nasal spray uses include:
- Treating ear congestion due to an ear infection or other causes
- Treating nosebleeds
- Preventing ear discomfort during air travel.
