Nasonex Medication Information

Nasonex^® ( mometasone nasal spray) is a prescription nasal spray used for treating both seasonal and year-round nasal allergy symptoms, such as runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and nasal itching. It is also licensed to treat nasal polyps.

 

Before you start using Nasonex, medication information should be discussed with your healthcare provider to help minimize risks. It is important to know that long-term use of steroids can cause bothersome and sometimes serious side effects. Since Nasonex is a nasal spray, however, its effects are generally limited to the nose, which can prevent many of the long-term side effects often seen with steroids.

 

In order to help ensure a safe treatment process, you should also talk to your healthcare provider before using Nasonex if you have never had chickenpox or the measles, have tuberculosis, or have glaucoma or cataracts.
