Allergies Home > Zetonna Drug Interactions

Zetonna™ (ciclesonide) is a steroid nasal spray used to treat nasal allergies. It can potentially interact with at least one other medication.

In one study, combining ketoconazole (Nizoral®) with orally inhaled ciclesonide significantly increased the level of ciclesonide in the blood. Although Zetonna comes as a nasal spray, it is thought that it could react with ketoconazole in a similar manner. Therefore, Zetonna should not be combined with ketoconazole, particularly oral forms of the drug. This probably does not apply to ketoconazole shampoo or skin products.

In some studies where ciclesonide was combined with a few other drugs, it did not appear to cause interactions. However, it is possible that there are potential interactions with this drug that are currently unknown. Therefore, make sure to check with your healthcare provider and pharmacist before combining Zetonna with other medications, as new information on drug interactions may become available at any time.
