More Information on Qnasl and Breastfeeding

Qnasl is a steroid nasal spray. Although studies have shown that other steroids pass through breast milk, it is unknown if beclomethasone (the active ingredient in Qnasl) would also pass through breast milk. Studies in lactating rats showed that Qnasl passes through rat breast milk in low amounts.

It is unknown whether Qnasl would cause problems in a nursing infant if the mother uses it. If your healthcare provider recommends using it while breastfeeding, make sure to watch for any changes or side effects in your infant.

Talking With Your Healthcare Provider

You should discuss breastfeeding and Qnasl use with your healthcare provider. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, the two of you can make a shared decision that is right for you.
