Can Children Use It?

Refer to the label of your particular product to see if it is approved for use in children (some are, while others are not). Make sure to carefully follow the dosing instructions for children.

Off-Label Uses for Phenylephrine

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend phenylephrine for something other than the approved uses (this would be known as an "off-label" use). Off-label uses of phenylephrine include treating the following conditions:

  • Fluid build-up in the ear (such as with an ear infection)
  • Involuntary leakage of urine during various activities, such as laughing or coughing (known as stress urinary incontinence).
