Flonase Risks
Although most do not experience any problems while taking Flonase® (fluticasone propionate nasal spray), side effects are still possible. Some of the most common Flonase risks include:
- Headaches
- A sore throat
- Nosebleeds
- Nausea or vomiting
- Coughing
- Nasal burning or irritation.
In most cases, if side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. However, there are some potentially serious risks with Flonase that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience side effects such as:
- Signs of steroid toxicity, including:
- Changes in your menstrual period
- Acne-like skin problems
- Weight gain in the abdomen (stomach), face, neck, or upper back
- Unexplained stretch marks on the skin
- Frequent infections or infections that do not go away
- Frequent, severe nosebleeds
- Asthma symptoms, such as wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Signs of an allergic reaction, including an unexplained rash, hives, itching, and unexplained swelling.
