It is also approved for the treatment of itching due to hives. Claritin is now available over-the-counter and comes in several forms, including tablets, liquid-filled capsules, orally disintegrating tablets, and syrup. Potential side effects of the medicine include dry mouth, drowsiness, and fatigue. Before using Claritin, talk to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, have liver disease, or have kidney disease.
