Claritin Tablets

Claritin® (loratadine) is a nonprescription medicine licensed to treat allergy symptoms, such as itchy nose or throat, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It can also be used to treat itching due to hives.

There are several different forms and strengths of Claritin: tablets, syrup, chewable tablets, liquid-filled capsules, and orally disintegrating tablets. Compared to most over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamines, these products are much less likely to cause drowsiness.

While Claritin tablets are mainly used in adults and older children, the syrup, chewable tablets, and orally disintegrating tablets are approved for use in younger children.

Although most people tolerate this medication well, side effects are possible. Some of the most common side effects that have been reported with Claritin include fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, and drowsiness.
