Claritin for Kids

Claritin® (loratadine) is a non-prescription medicine licensed to treat common allergy symptoms and itching due to hives, which may or may not be caused by allergies.

By blocking the effects of histamine, the medication can help relieve allergy symptoms (such as itchy or watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose or throat) and alleviate itching due to hives (histamine is responsible for the formation of hives).

There are many different forms of Claritin for kids. These forms (chewable tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and syrup) are easier for children to consume. Claritin syrup and chewable tablets are approved for use in children as young as two years old, while Claritin RediTabs® (orally disintegrating tablets that dissolve quickly in the mouth) are approved for children age six and older.
