Claritin®, an antihistamine, can be used to treat several allergy symptoms, including runny, itchy nose; sneezing; and watery eyes. By blocking the action of histamine receptors in the body, the drug prevents the immune system reactions that cause allergy symptoms. Claritin is now available without a prescription, and it comes in several different forms and strengths. Side effects may include headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth.
