Claritin Eye Drug Interactions
Significant drug interactions with Claritin Eye are unlikely. Because it is an eye drop, very little medication actually reaches the bloodstream. This reduces the risk of Claritin Eye reacting with other medications, and other drugs interacting with it.
Interactions With Claritin EyeClaritin® Eye (ketotifen ophthalmic solution) is a nonprescription medication approved for treating eye allergies. In particular, the antihistamine is licensed to treat itchy eyes caused by allergies to pollen, ragweed, grass, or animal hair or dander. As with many eye drop medications, Claritin Eye is not expected to have any significant drug interactions.
Theoretically, it is possible that Claritin Eye might react with certain other medications because it is an antihistamine, and other antihistamines, when taken by mouth, can cause drug interactions. However, with Claritin Eye, little of the medication actually reaches the bloodstream and, therefore, the rest of the body. As a result, Claritin Eye is unlikely to affect other medications, and other drugs are unlikely to interact with Claritin Eye.
Nonetheless, it is always a good idea to include Claritin Eye in your list of medications when checking for any interactions. Also, be sure to check with your healthcare provider about any possible interactions that may apply to your particular situation.
