Serious Side Effects of Claritin-D

Some side effects with Claritin-D, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. As with most recently approved non-prescription products, Claritin-D is usually safe to use and rarely causes serious side effects. These potentially serious side effects include but are not limited to:
 
  • Wheezing or other breathing problems
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) or rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
  • Chest pain
  • Seizures
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including an unexplained rash, hives, itching, and unexplained swelling, especially of the lips, mouth, or throat.

You may experience some or none of the side effects of Claritin-D listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand whether you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried.
