Astepro (azelastine hydrochloride) is a prescription medication licensed to treat seasonal and year-round allergies. It is specifically used for treating nasal allergy symptoms, such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing. The medication is an antihistamine that acts in at least two different ways; it helps prevent the release of histamine from mast cells, and if any histamine is released, it also prevents histamine from binding to histamine receptors. The drug comes in nasal spray form and is typically used twice a day.
