Astelin® is a nasal spray commonly used for treating sneezing, itching, and runny or stuffy nose due to seasonal allergens or other irritants. The medicine works by preventing the release of histamine from mast cells and preventing histamine from binding to histamine receptors. Astelin, which is available by prescription, is generally used twice daily. Side effects may include drowsiness, headache, and bitter taste.
