Allegra OTC

If you have seasonal
allergies or chronic hives, your healthcare provider may recommend Allegra® (fexofenadine hydrochloride). Unlike many other allergy medications, however, you cannot find Allegra OTC (over-the-counter).

The drug comes in the form of tablets, orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs), and oral suspension (liquid). It is taken by mouth, usually once or twice daily. Allegra works by blocking the effects of histamine, chemicals in the body that can cause itching, sneezing, and irritation.

This medicine has been shown to be effective in improving symptoms of hay fever, such as itchy or watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. It can also help relieve itching due to hives. Even though you cannot purchase Allegra OTC, your healthcare provider can prescribe it to you if this is indeed the best medication for your situation.
