Allegra works by blocking the effects of histamine, chemicals in the body that can cause sneezing, itching, and irritation. The medication has been shown to be effective at relieving symptoms of
hay fever and alleviating itching due to hives.
Allegra oral suspension is approved to treat seasonal allergies in children as young as two years old and chronic hives in children as young as six months old.
