Actifed for Children

Actifed® Cold & Allergy (chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride) is an over-the counter medication used to treat symptoms of allergies and the common cold. The medication is approved for use in adults. When using Actifed for children, they must be at least 12 years old; it should not be used in younger children.
 
Specifically, Actifed is approved to treat the following cold symptoms:
 
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Nasal congestion.
     
It is used to treat the following allergy symptoms:
 
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Itchy, watery eyes
  • Nasal congestion
  • Itching of the nose or throat.
