Actifed Drug Interactions

Several drugs are known to interact with Actifed. Included in this list are MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, and other medications that cause drowsiness. These interactions with Actifed may affect the way your body metabolizes these drugs and may cause serious and potentially life-threatening complications. Before starting Actifed, talk to your healthcare provider about any interactions that may apply to you.

Actifed Interactions: An Overview

 Actifed® Cold & Allergy (chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Actifed include but are not limited to:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor medications, such as:
 
 
  • Anticholinergic drugs, such as:
 
 
  • Iobenguane I 123 (AdreView™)
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as:
 
 
  • Other medications that cause drowsiness, such as:
